A banner made from olive green velvet, embroidered turquoise Indian silk, silk embroidery and silver paint.

Treatment Received

  • Surface cleaned using a variable powered vacuum to remove surface particulates.
  • Ingrained dirt and stains were lifted with vulcanised rubber sponge.
  • An ultrasonic humidifier was used to lessen the hard creases.
  • The leather strap was consolidated using a leather consolidant and supported with custom coloured Japanese tissue.
  • The fraying cord was secured using a conservation grade adhesive.
  • The loose threads in the flower embroidery were secured.
  • A new Velcro header tape was created and secured to the reverse top edge.
  • A wood batten was cut to size and sealed using an acrylic glaze.
